About the Candidate

Justice Poissant has lived and worked in Houston, Texas since 1980. Her late father and mentor, Joseph Poissant, had his own law firm in the town of Malone, New York and also served as a New York State Legislator.

Professional Experience
  • Admitted to the Texas Bar in 1985, and New York Bar in 2017.

  • Martindale Hubbell peer-review rating of "AV Preeminent", the highest rating for legal and ethical standards in the law profession.

  • Has served Texans for more than 30 years as a trial attorney handling a broad range of cases, both civil and criminal.

    • Legal expertise in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, family law, commercial litigation, contracts, administrative law, probate, employment law, and criminal defense law. 

    • Lead Counsel in more than 270 cases in Harris County, as well as cases in Chambers, Dallas, Fort Bend, Galveston, Travis, Montgomery, Nueces, Dallas, Grimes, Liberty, and Waller Counties.

  • ​Active member of legal associations including Texas Trial Lawyer's Association, Houston Trial Lawyer's Association, Houston Bar Association, and Houston Volunteer Lawyers and former appointment by the State Bar of Texas to the Mentorship/ Liability and Disclaimer Subcommittee.
